Helping Young People Thrive
Support every child access the life-changing experience of horses.
Empowering young lives through experiences with horses, building confidence, a sense of responsibility and lasting friendships in a safe supportive space.
Horse Rangers provides a safe and welcoming community where children & young people develop and thrive.
Horses provide a unique way for children to build trust, overcome challenges and grow in ways that traditional methods might not offer.
The lessons they learn extend beyond the stables, empowering them in their everyday lives.
Our programmes offer a hands-on, outdoor experience which promotes well-being, resilience, and a sense of achievement, while structured learning and mentorship opportunities equip our rangers with essential life skills and improve future employability.
Every weekend we support over 236 children and young people at the Stockyard.Â
Our 4-hour sessions are available for children aged 8 and above.Â
Working together, they learn to care for, handle and ride our 22 horses.
During the week, we offer subsidised riding and groundwork sessions for individuals with disabilities.Â
These sessions do more than improve physical mobility – they build confidence, independence, and joy.
Young people, adults and older members of the local community can access many of the same benefits as our members through volunteering opportunities.Â
Spending time outdoors and around horses can improve your general wellbeing, physical & mental health.
Here at Horse Rangers, we are excited to be launching The Healing Horse – See below for more details…
The Healing Horse is a structured 8-week programme that supports the mental health and wellbeing of young people.Â
Combining the unique sensitivity of horses with the expertise of equine professionals and qualified cognitive behavioural therapists, the programme offers hands-on, ground-based activities (not riding) that help participants build self-awareness, confidence, resilience, and healthier coping strategies. Evidence-based tools from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) are woven throughout the sessions, ensuring a supportive and impactful experience. Suitable for everyone but particularly those who find more traditional talking therapies difficult.
