Hi, I’m Laura. Horses have been a lifelong passion of mine. As a child, I spent countless hours volunteering and working with horses, where I gained valuable life skills, such as building confidence, teamwork, and resilience, qualities that have shaped who I am today. With over 15 years of experience in the charity sector, including senior leadership roles in fundraising and events at a major London venue, I’m thrilled to bring my expertise to Horse Rangers. It’s a privilege to lead this amazing charity, working alongside dedicated staff and volunteers to share the joys and benefits of working with horses with a new generation of children and young people.

Hi, I’m Lauren. I started with Horse Rangers in 2018 after spending over 3 years working for an Assistance Dog Charity. My background is in the Charitable sector, specialising in disabilities and alternative therapies, through accessible sports and animal assisted therapy. I learned to ride at 18 years old after moving from Wales, where I grew up, to England where I have lived ever since. I have a great love for animals, especially my own cheeky Dachshund, Blue.

Hello, I’m Angélique! I will probably be the first person you speak to when enquiring about joining us. I started riding from the age of 10 in France, several times a week until my early twenties; then travels, studies and life took over. Years later, I started volunteering for the Riding for the Disabled Association in 2014 here in Hampton and thoroughly enjoyed being around horses again, meeting a jolly bunch of volunteers and above all, seeing the impact the horses had on our RDA members. When the opportunity to join Horse Rangers Office team arose, I seized it and have been lucky to be part of the staff team since 2018.

I have been a ranger for over 25 years. It’s fantastic to be part of a team with such wonderful, caring, passionate people. I really enjoy being involved as a volunteer with the fundraising that the organisation does. I am also the Jack Petchey coordinator – in this role I get to hear all the wonderful things rangers and officers have to say about each other. I am also the newly appointed Members and Volunteers Liaison Manager, this means I am responsible for coordinating the smooth running of the mainstream Horse Ranger activities and acting as the intermediary between Horse Rangers’s Team Leaders and the Senior Management. I am also involved with our induction days: welcoming new members, assisting the weekend volunteers, squadron training and badge work, and act as a point of contact for parents during office and squadron time.

Hi, I’m Theresa. I joined Horse Rangers at the tender age of eight and progressed through the organisation to become the chief instructor and ultimately the Stable Manager at Horse Rangers. I am responsible for the day-to-day management of my team and the wellbeing of our horses. I am particularly interested in the veterinary side and have formed very good relations with the yard vet and the equine hospital, who look after our horses. In addition to my weekday work at the stables, I continue to be an active officer and instructor in Squadron 3 on Sundays. I am a BHS AI and am the Chief Instructor. I work closely with Alistair Blamire, instructor and HRA equitation officer, on the training and development we give to our Rangers, Officers and Instructors. I also head our Own a Pony Days, Lessons & Hacks during the holidays for Rangers; as such, I am always on hand to give advice when needed. I am the lead rider in our Musical Ride Display Team where I usually ride Dylan…or Shimmer. My favourite horses on the yard are Disney, Dylan and Shimmer although – in all honesty – I love all of them in different ways.

Hi, I’m Becky. I joined Horse Rangers in 2004. Prior to this, I worked in the animal department at Squires Garden Centre, in Twickenham. I then completed a National Diploma in Equine Studies at Guilford College Merrist Wood Campus. I have been riding since I was nine and have a great love for all animals. You will often find me in the forefront of any animal rescue. As deputy manager, I support Theresa in the day to day running of the yard and am always willing to lend a hand during any Horse Ranger’s special events. I do have a natural ability with our greener horses on the yard and I really enjoy bringing them on. I am also a keen photographer. My favourites at the yard are Max and Malcolm.

Hello. My name’s Georgie; I joined Squadron 5 at eight years of age and recall that Sandal was the first pony I ever rode. I moved up to Squadron 3 where I remain an active officer and instructor. I joined Horse Rangers’s stable staff in 1999 and was promoted to Theresa’s deputy six years later. My additional responsibilities include ordering all the horses’ feed and bedding each week, so no pressure. I have been an intrinsic member of our Musical Ride Display Team since I was 18. Ben and Samson remain firm favourites in my heart, but I like them all.

Hello, I’m James. I have ridden horses all my life and was on my grandfather’s horses as soon as I could walk. I joined Horse Rangers’s Windsor in 2001 then transferred over to Horse Rangers’s Hampton to join Squadron 5 in 2002 then moved up to Squadron 2 where I continue to be an active officer on a Saturday afternoon. My favourite horse is Captain.

Hi, I’m Cora! I joined Horse Rangers & 1 squadron back in June 2016, at the age of 10. I progressed through the ranks, became a Pony Helper in 2018, attending most Sunday afternoons; I was awarded Pony Helper of the month on a number of occasions and the Pony Helper of the Year in 2022. When I turned 14, I would come and help during the week day, during my school holidays. I also took part in the Musical Ride display at the Byfleet fair. I did an Apprenticeship at Silvermere Equestrian Centre in Cobham (from September 2022) and joined the Horse Rangers Stable Team in January 2024 as a groom. Besides Horses, I have a passion with everything related to Korea: its people, music, food and skin care and I try to go there as much as I can.

Hello, I am Alistair. I joined the Metropolitan Police in 1975, initially spending 2 years on foot duty in Chelsea before training with their Mounted Section at Imber court in 1977. It was during my time at Imber Court that I first became aware of the Horse Rangers as there was already a long standing link between the two organisations. After 30 years as a Mounted Police Officer, I retired from uniformed duty in 2008, but spent the next 8 years as a Horse Trainer for the police at Imber Court. Since October 2016, I have become part of the team at Horse Rangers and regularly instruct the squadrons on Saturdays. In my role as Equitation Officer for Horse Rangers, I work closely with the permanent staff offering support and guidance especially in relation to sourcing and training new horses and helping with the training of the Instructors. As a Mounted Police Officer, I was for many years part of the acclaimed Metropolitan Police Activity Ride, which has performed at many prestigious events both in the UK and overseas. All this experience is harnessed for Rangers’s benefit as I am responsible for directing the Horse Rangers’ Musical Ride Display Team. This includes choreographing the routine and training the riders.

Sarah completed an Animal Science Degree in 2000 with first class honours. She then decided to attend Vet school at the University of Liverpool qualifying in 2005 with credits and a distinction grade. While she was at vet school, she was awarded a prize in Large Animal Studies. Sarah previously worked in small and mixed animal practice where she was the equine assistant. Sarah has been with us since 2006 and has a particular interest in wound healing and wound management.

Neil Sherlock is a farrier who served 22 years in the household cavalry, retiring as Farrier Major from the military. As the Head Farrier at the Household Cavalry, Neil Sherlock was in charge of the shoeing of over 200 horses. He now runs his own business shoeing the Surrey area. Additionally Neil is a farrier consultant for The Brooke Charity, teaching Farrier in countries such as Senegal and Nepal.

Richard has a specialist interest in remedial farriery and is a certified member of the Equine Lameness Prevention Organisation (ELPO). He is also an ELPO Certified Lameness Specialist in the UK, performing equine. As a specialist farrier, Richard will always endeavour to ensure that the best possible solution for the horse is achieved, liaising closely with our stable manager and vet consultant when required.

I am a Mental Health Nurse and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), registered with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). With over 18 years of experience supporting both young people and adults, I am passionate about helping individuals strengthen their wellbeing and improve their mental health. I work in a creative and flexible way, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to suit each person’s needs. I work to create a safe, supportive space where young people and adults feel understood and accepted. I try and help them handle their challenges in life while moving toward the things that make life meaningful for them.

Hi. I’m Gemma and I’m honoured to be taking up the mantle of Chair of the Board of Trustees of this wonderful and unique organisation. I became a member of the organisation over 30 years ago, and am now a volunteer Instructor on a Sunday morning so you’re more likely to see me in jodhpurs than not! As a youngster I spent every available spare hour with my 2 and 4 legged friends at the Horse Rangers being a dedicated Pony Helper and member of the Musical Ride, so I know firsthand how much this organisation can shape lives. It certainly gave me the confidence to take on adventures such as the Mongol Derby and Blue Wolf Totem Expedition. I love being able to have a positive impact on the confidence of our members, helping support their personal growth the way this organisation did for me. When I’m not spending time volunteering at the organisation, I run the finance department for a national chain of indoor activity parks although I am definitely more comfortable on a horse than on a trampoline!

I am Kate and I have been a member of the Horse Rangers since I was 10 years old and it has been such a huge part of my life. Growing up I spent all of my school holidays here, I was a pony helper and a member of the musical ride display team throughout my teenage years and am now an officer on a Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. Horse rangers really has shaped who I am as a person and I am excited to take on a role as trustee to ensure that members continue to get the same experiences I grew up with. When I am not in the fields or out in the park, I am a part of the Technical Accounting team at a firm of accountants based in Guildford. Whilst this may sound boring to some, I really enjoy it (although I would choose being at horse rangers any day!).

I first became involved with the Horse Rangers approximately 30 years ago when my daughter joined. I became a regular helper with the RDA section and qualified as an Instructor/Coach 2 years later. I became an Officer and have been involved with most Horse Ranger activities & fundraiser events over the years; I became a Junior Instructor with Number 4 Squadron on Thursday Evenings. Currently I am a Coach with No 6 and 7 Squadrons and an Officer with mainstream No. 1 Squadron on Saturday mornings. I am County Chair for the RDA in the Greater London Area and Safeguarding Trainer. I also run my own livery yard locally. My interests are horses, people, skiing and reading. I feel honoured to have recently become a Trustee for the Horse Rangers Association and hope that I can bring my knowledge and experience to maintain and improve its current operations, to help secure its successful future and to promote The Horse Rangers Association wherever possible, especially in the local community.

Liam grew up in Ireland where he qualified as an accountant prior to moving to London. He was in an Accountancy firm in Thames Ditton where he rose to become Partner. Then was appointed Finance & HR Director for a Car Leasing & Finance Company in Slough which he joined in 1999 and helped to transition from a family run business to a national organisation. Liam is currently Managing Director at Powerday. Liam lives with his wife and two sons in Esher. His hobbies include gardening, cycling & riding. As a child he rode in Ireland and looks forward to reawakening his childhood memories through his involvement at Horse Rangers.

I retired 4 years ago after 40 years working in marketing for blue chip companies like Unilever and GSK. I was keen to keep using my business skills and joined Cranfield Trust, who offer support to independent charities. Cranfield connected me with Horse Rangers in January 2026 and, having learnt more about the amazing benefits of working with horses, I am delighted to have been asked to support the charity as a marketing trustee.
